Butterflies and Flowers

I just love the Penny Black stamp 'Soft Wings' 40-099, it is such a beautiful butterfly stamp and I have just managed to get my hands on it and finally ink it up.

To make  the base design, I inked up 'Delicate Florals' 40-103 with Tombow markers and repeat stamped into the corner of some watercolour card.  The sentiment is from the new transparent set 'Petal Party'  30-113 and has been stamped using Versafine black ink.  I then hand drew the border (yes it is wonky....I did that on purpose :)  ).

The butterfly was then stamped with Versafine Vintage Sepia ink and then stamped again onto a scratch piece of white card.  The butterfly was water coloured with inktense pencils and then mounted onto the main panel using dimensional glue.

Tomorrow I will be sharing another card using some of the new stamps so do pop back if you have time.

Mix and Match Rainbows

Do you ever have lots of little scraps of card, but are reluctant to throw them away?  I hate waste and so save all my scraps in colour folders ready for just the project I am going to share with you today, a Rainbow strip of scraps!

Materials Used:- Mix and Match Cardstock from left to right, 'Coral Reef' 15-001 15-002 15-003, 'Fall Festival' 16-001 16-002 16-003, 'Summer Sun' 17-001 17-002 17-003, 'Fern Green' 05-001 05-002 05-003, 'Blue Lagoon' 09-001 09-002 09-003, 'Periwinkle' 11-001 11-002 11-003, 'Purple Mountain' 12-001 12-002 12-003, 'Fuchsia Fantasies' 13-001 13-002 13-003. 'Puzzle Parts'  30-114, 'Petal Party' 30-113, 'Social Butterfly' 30-116.

I cut the scraps of card so that they were each the same width and then stuck onto a piece of white paper, I then stamped and clear embossed with puzzle parts, and trimmed into smaller strips (this way you have rainbows for several cards). I then stuck the strip onto a gloss black mount, mounted it onto white card and stamped the sentiment in Versafine Black ink below.

I then stamped and embossed the flower with black embossing powder onto vellum and cut out then glued to card adding a button in the centre.  The white blank was then mounted onto gloss black card blank to finish.

Did you know that the Penny Black team are sharing clean and simple cards over on their blog today?   You can check out the wonderful creations here.

Enjoy whats left of the week, hugs

Birthday Tags

I recently was given a Papercraft Inspirations Magazine from February, and it was so full of ideas, that I had to get crafting straight away.

There was a birthday card for an owl and so I used the layout to create a tag using stamping instead of paper punching, this is what I came up with.

Close up of tag open

Close up of tag closed

Materials:-
Penny Black:-  'Spring Meadows' 06-001 and 'Summer Sun' 17-003 Mix and Match Cardstock, 'Sweet Wishes' 30-104, 'A Bear of All Trades' 30-108, 'Airmail' 30-072, 'Sweet Home' 40-054, 'Warm Wishes' 40-074, 'Inspiring' 40-113, 'Word to the Wise' 40-141
Spellbinders:- Nesting Circles
Tsukineko:- Memento Cantaloupe ink and black pen, Vintage Sepia and Olympia Green Versafine Ink
Faber Castell:- Pitt Pastels 113, 153, 156 and 168
American Craft Ribbon
Sizzix Branches and leaves die
Quikutz Oval die
Plus Deco Roller Flowers
Kraft and White Card and Eyelet

Inked owl part of stamp with memento black pen and stamped onto scrap card, I then filled in with at the fine tip of the pen the top of the head and where the scroll would of been.  I then coloured him with pastel pencils and blended with my fingers to get a softer finish, once I was happy with the shading I cut him out.

I then stamped inspiring onto Kraft card and cut  a partial circle out of side,I then layered the summer sun circle that had been stamped with warm wishes using cantaloupe ink. Cut out the  branch, shaded the leaves and then  mounted onto card with owl.

The grass was stamped  and cut out and flowers added using the Plus Deco roller, details of these rollers can be found here and then attached to bottom of tag. I then added ribbon and stamped and cut out the sentiment and mounted onto summer sun card stock.

On white card I stamped the wording for the the inside of the tag and then attached to front of tag with a brad.

Hope your week is going well, for more tag inspiration hop on over to the Penny Black Blog here.

Sunshine

Oh dear, the day I made this card was another of those wet and dreary ones, it seems like October rather than June here in the UK with torrential rain and gale force winds!  So I tried as hard as I could to remember sunshine and its colours and incorporate them into this design.

This card was created using Penny Black's new Transparent set 'Round and Round' 30-112 and 'Flower Gallery' 30-031, the background card is 'Sticks and Stones'  02-003 Mix and Match cardstock, which has been over-stamped with 'Flower Flourish' 40-136.

Well now all I need is to hope that the real sun comes out again!

Mimi Sends Love

Did you know that the symbol on the latest Mimi Stamp 'Dress-Up Mimi' 4265H means love, you can see where I found this out here.

Today the Penny Black designers have been challenged to make projects using this stamp and you can see their creations here.

Materials:- 'Dress-Up Mimi' 4265H, 'Airmail'  30-072, 'Wall Paper Print' 40-134 (this is very pale background on panel with words stamped, sadly it doesn't show up too well in the photo).

I cut the Plum marble card into scallop shape using my Cricut and Wildcard cartridge, I then drew a dashed line with a silver sakura gel pen.  To create the fans I cut three strips of origami paper, concertinaed and pinched in at one end.

White card was then cut using a Spellbinders Circle Die and then distressed with Milled Lavender and Victorian Velvet ink then over-stamped wallpaper print in milled lavender to get subtle pattern. It was then stamped 'with love' from the Air Mail set' and symbol on the 'Mimi' stamp using a stamp positioner.

A second piece of white card was then cut using an oval spellbinders die and the edges shaded with bundled sage ink.

Mimi was then stamped onto a piece of scrap card, coloured with Copics and cut out and mounted onto oval with foam pads.
Copic used:- Face E53; Cheeks YR02; Fan YG61, G82; Dress RV93, RV95, RV000, RV69.

Thank you for visiting me today, I hope you have a great week.

Thank You Paula

Did you know there is a flickr site called Die Cut Divas that runs a monthly challenge?  I entered Aprils challenge and won a fabulous Frame Die Cut, that Paula kindly sent me, all the way from Australia!

So I just had to cut something out with it and make a card for her to say thanks, this is what I came up with.

The die is from Couture Creations and makes this lovely embossed frame.  I decided it would be lovely to frame the Flowers from 'Butterfly Kiss' 4233K which was stamped with Versafine London Fog ink and coloured with Copic markers and a second butterfly cut to go on the outside edge of the frame.

The sentiment was then stamped using 'Wishes' 30-103 and Versafine black ink.  This was then mounted onto patterned paper and card blank to finish.

Thanks for visiting me today.

Mimi need Rescuing

When I got the new Penny Black stamp release the first idea that came to my mind was this.....

I just saw the damsel in distress in need of rescuing...maybe we need to have a knight in shining armour!!

Used:- 'Mimi at Play' 30-111, 'Sentiments' 30-025, 'Brick Wall' 40-137, 'Sweet Home' 40-054, 'Sweet Wishes' 30-104

I stamped the brick onto white card using Versafine Smokey Grey ink and then shaded using Antique Linen and Old Paper distress inks.  I then created the top the same way and mounted onto the tower using foam pads. The grass was then stamped onto separate card with Memento Black ink and coloured with Copics (the flowers are from a sticker roller by Plus) the  grass was cut out and stuck to base of card.
The flag was stamped onto white card and coloured with spun sugar and worn lipstick ink .

Mimi was stamped onto separate card with Memento black ink, coloured with Copics and cut out.  This was then mounted onto the main card.  Mimi's crown was gold foiled to add shine!

I wonder how long she will have to wait in her tower?

Hope you are having a great week.

Butterfly Wishes

My daughter recently celebrated her birthday and I wanted to create a special card for her, this is what I came up with.

Used: 'Social Butterfly' 30-116, 'Postcard' 1369L, 'Letter background' 1999L, 'Flowers Sweet' 30-096, 'Words Express' 30-106, 'Fuchsia  Fantasies' 13-001 and 13-003

I stamped the Postcard, letter writing and daughter words with Versafine Black ink onto white card and coloured with Shabby Shutters Distress ink using a blending tool.  I then over-stamped  the edges with the leaf from Flowers Sweet set using Versafine Spanish Moss ink. The Post card was cut out using deckle edge blade on a trimmer and mounted onto Mix and Match card (that had been hand stitched).

On separate white card I stamped the butterfly twice with Seedless Preserves distress ink and then shaded using same ink and blending tool, cut out and layered using dimensional glue.I then added it to the postcard to finish.

For other butterfly inspiration check out the Penny Black blog here.

Vellum and Origami Flower

I have been playing with some new toys this weekend from 'Design Memory Craft Faber-Castell', I just love to experiment with new things and have some ideas that I will be sharing with you all soon - if they work that is!

I used a Stampers Big Brush Pen, it is fabulous for inking up a stamp for a quick card and simple card.  You can see the pen I used on this card in this set here, it is a lovely green and perfect for leaves.  My inspiration came from the CASual-Friday challenge here, to use either vellum or acetate on a card and this is what I came up with.

To create this card I inked the leaves from Penny Black's 'Inspiring' 40-113 cling stamp using 'May Green' Stampers Big Brush pen and repeat stamped up the side of the card.

I then stamped the sentiment in the top left corner using Versafine black ink and the sentiment from 'Petal Party' 30-113.

The flower again from 'Petal Party' 30-113 was stamped onto vellum with Versmark ink and embossed with black powder and cut out.  I then added a a rosette to the centre, easily made by concertinaing a piece of origami paper and gluing the edges together and flattening!  A black gem was added to the centre to finish off the flower.  this was then glued to the bottom right corner of the card to finish.

Did you know that there is more inspiration using the new stamp designs over on the Penny Black Blog here, I have had a sneak peek at some of the designs and they will blow your socks off!

Come back tomorrow when I will have something fluttery to share with you!

A Notelet Gift Set

I love to make special gifts for my friends and this one is for a friends birthday.

I have created a notelet set in a gift box with a pen.

Here is the inside of the Notelet set

And here are the individual note lets

Used:-  Embossed papers 'Eyelet White' ep400, 'Scroll White' ep401, 'Petal Party' 30-113, 'Wishes' 30-103, 'Sweet Wishes' 30-104, 'Salutations' 30-014, 'Fuchsia Fantasies' 13-002, 'Purple Mountain' 12-002 and 12-003,' Coral Reef '15-002,  'Rose Garden' 14-002

The notelets were stamped and embossed with white embossing powder onto mix and match card stock, Each complete flower was mounted onto embossed paper that had been stitched to note cards.  I then created the banners by inking only one end of the banner in sweet wishes and joining each end up to have a V at each end (this is quite easy to do as the banner is clear and makes lining up the edges easier).

The Envelopes were then stamped with the flower in a matching pigment ink colour.

The Flower on the box was stamped with memento black ink and coloured with Copic Markers, cut out using spellbinders dies and mounted onto the box.

I hope my friend likes this set when she gets it!

Have a fabulous weekend everyone.

The Lady

Today you are in for a treat as the design team over at Penny Black are inspiring you with cards made using the New Background stamps, to see the creations hop on over here.

I thought I would create a silhouette style card, using 'Divine Pattern' 40-113 background stamp.

I Stamped 'Devine Pattern' 40-113 pattern onto 'Fuchsia Fantasies' 13-001 Mix and Match card using Memento Rosebud ink and then added the sentiment from 'Lace Delight' 30-115 to the bottom using Versafine Imperial Purple ink.  I then used burgundy embossing powder and Versamark ink to stamp the lady  from'So Blessed' 40-132 in the centre of the card and then framed with spellbinders frame cutout mounted onto foam pads, the photo corners were hand cut and embossed and then mounted onto 'Fuchsia Fantasies' 13-003 mix and match card to finish.

I just want to thank you for all the wonderful comments you leave for me, they really make my day.

Inspired by Cinderella

One of my favourite parts of the Cinderella movie, is when the birds and critters help Cinders to make her ball dress, so when I saw the New Transparent set 'Lace Delight' 30-115 I just knew I had to make a card to recreate the scene.

To create this card I Stamped the mannequin from 'Lace Delight' 30-115 with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured with Copics, I then used a Memento Tuxedo Black pen to ink birds from 'Pinnacle' 4168K and again coloured with Copics.  The sentiment from the 'Lace Delight' 30-115 set was then stamped with Versamark Onyx Black ink and then lace and ribbon added to embellish.

The main image was then mounted onto 'Clear Skies' 10-002 Mix and Match card and a border was pierced  on 3 sides,  the remaining edge was cut using a deckle edge blade.  I then stamped a lace strip onto separate piece of clear skies card with Memento Bahama Blue ink cut out and adhered to inside edge of card to finish.

If you would like to see more inspiration using the Lace Delight set, hop on over to the Penny Black blog to see what the other designers have created here.

Inspired by Spirograph

As a child, I used to love playing with my Spirograph and making pictures with colourful designs, when I saw the new transparent set  'Lace Delight' 30-115, it reminded me of those days!

To make this card I created a card blank using 'Fern Green' 15-001 Mix and Match Cardstock which I then stamped with 'Lace Delight' 30-115 using Pear Tart Memento ink.

'Round and Round' 30-112 was s
tamped onto white card using Memento Pear Tart, Grape Jelly and Lilac Posies ink.  I then coloured in areas using Fern, Deep Rose and Iris Blue Inktense pencils, added a sentiment from same set using Versafine Onyx Black ink and gems and then mounted design onto 'Purple Mountain' 12-003 Mix and Match Cardstock and then mounted onto main card with dimensional foam pads.

Tomorrow I have another childhood treat to share with you.

Hugs for now

New Rubba!!!!!!!

Today is an exciting day, as it is the start of the reveal on the Penny Black Blog of the new stamp release, you will be able to see the new collection over the next two weeks here.

Today I thought I would share a card that I made using the new transparent set 'Round and Round' 30-112 and 'Lace Delight'  30-115.

I stamped the circle design from 'round and round' 30-112 onto white card twice using Versafine Smokey Grey ink and then coloured parts with Copic Marker YR15. The outer circle and the inner part were then cut out and  I then added glue to the remaining white areas and sprinkled with Magenta glitter. Once dry these were layered up and a gem brad added to the centre.

On some scrap white card I stamped the leaves using Versafine Spanish Moss and Olympia Green inks and cut out.  Circles were then cut from white and 'Fall Festival' 16-001 Mix and Match Cardstock using Spellbinders nesting circles.  The Sentiment from 'Lace Delight' 30-115 was stamped using Versafine Onyx Black ink and the area embossed with a Sizzix Textured Impressions embossing folder Flowers and Flourish Set.

The pieces were then layered onto 'Fuchsia Fantasies' 13-002 Mix and Match cardstock that had been edged with a white gel pen.

If you would like to have a peak at all the new stamps in this collection you can view them in the catalogue here.

Do you have a favourite from this new release?  I would love you to let me know in your comments.

Have a great week

Mimi and the Class of 2012

It is that time of year when students around the world graduate, Mimi is no exception and this card celebrates her special day with her friends.

To create this card I stamped Mimi onto post it notes 3 times and cut to use as masks, then I stamped and masked each 'Graduate Mimi' 4264J with memento ink onto white card and coloured with Prisma Pencils and Copics.

I drew in the step with a fine liner pen and coloured with Copics.  The outer frame to the card was cut using Spellbinders grand nesting Squares using 'Fall Festival' 16-003 Mix and Match Card stock and then stamped with 'Puzzle Parts' 30-114 using Versafine crimson red ink.   The sentiment was stamped onto separate white card using 'Word to the Wise' 40-141 (I inked partially and used a stamp positioner to line up both parts) and then distressed with Antique Linen ink.

Well that is all I have for you this week, I will be back next week with some fabulous new stamps to inspire you!

Have a great weekend

Critter Father's Day Frame

Dads are proud fellows and what could be nicer than to give them a personalised photo frame for father's day.

P

To create this frame I coloured some white card with Memento Cantaloupe ink and a dauber to create the outer frame and photo base (used heavier pressure to get photo base darker).  I then stamped over with same ink using 'Puzzle Parts' 30-114 and cut the aperture just fractionally larger than the photo, so that the darker border would show through.

On separate piece of white card the hedgehog was stamped  from 'Hedgie Friends' 30-101 with Memento Black ink and coloured with Copics; C00, C1, C3, C5, C7, R00, R22, YR21, YR12 & YR18.  I then cut it out leaving a small white border around the edge and added to the frame with dimensional foam pads.  The sentiment was then stamped onto a separate scrap of white card using  "the best" from 'A Bear Of All Trades' 30-108 and "dad" from 'Words Express' 30-106, trimmed and added to card.  The top banner is the scrap left over from the One Layer Card on Tuesday, that can be seen here.

To support the frame in an upright position I cut an easel back and trimmed to a smaller size using the Tim Holtz Small Easel die.

So to all Dads out there, know you are appreciated for all you do.
