Spellbinders International Flair Gift Box

Hello, this Thursday I am hosting the International Flair Post over on the Spellbinders explore beyond blog here.

I wanted to create an elegant gift box using some wonderful new dies and this is what I came up with.

Gift box

To create this project you will need:

Spellbinders; Create a Gerber Daisy S2-066, French Harmony S5-222 and Valiant Honour S5-217 dies. Penny Black Special Wishes 30-229 transparent stamp set, Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko Memento Pear Tart Dye ink and Memento Luxe Teal Zeal ink, Clear Embossing powder, American Craft premium gross grain dotted ribbon, Sheer elastic cord, Beacon Zip Dry and Fabritac Glue, Chameleon Blue Green and Yellow Green alcohol pens, Kay and Co Pearls and Lush Bead Blue embellishments, Acetate, Cream Pearl Card, Katy Sue Button Mould and Friendly Plastic Pellets.

Firstly cut the sections for the box as follows:
2 x    8 1/4" by 5 1/4" for the long sides (score 1/2" in each side as shown in photo)
2 x    5 1/4" by 5 1/4" for the short sides
1 x    8 1/4" by 6 1/4" for the base (score 1/2" along each edge as shown below)
1 x    7 1/4" by 5 3/4" for the lid  (score 1/2" along one side as below)

Step 1

Cut pattern from each piece using Spellbinders French Harmony die (for the short sides overhang the portion of the die that you do not wish to cut outside the cutting plate)

Step 1a

Cut acetate (I have recycled some old spellbinders packaging for this) to reinforce the insides of the box with the following dimensions:-
2 x   7 1/4" by 5 1/4"
2 x   5 1/4" by 5 1/4"
1 x   7 1/4" by 5 1/4"

Step 2

Glue edges of the box together using Beacon Zip dry glue as seen below

Step 3

Attach acetate to insides using Zip Dry glue

Step 4

Here you can see the finished box

Step 5

Next emboss the petals onto cream card, you need 8 pieces one flower and cut out the centres.

Step 6

You can now colour using the Chameleon alcohol pens, these will automatically blend from a lighter shade to a darker shade without needing to change pens. I have made a short video showing how to put the smaller flower together.

Once you have coloured and built your flowers they should look like this (spellbinders website has a video showing how to mark the original version of the flower here).

Step 7

Step 8

Then cut a label out using the Valiant Honour die, ink the inside edges of the card whilst still in the die using Memento Pear Tart ink.  Cut and colour leaves. Stamp the Penny Black sentiment with Memento Luxe Teal Zeal ink and emboss with clear powder.  Create a flower button using the Katy Sue Button mould and Friendly Plastic Pellets and colour with the Chameleon pen.

Step 9

Add Ribbon to top of box using Fabritac Adhesive and then add flowers button, sheer elastic close loop and other elements to finish.
